Run for the 2022-23 Beacon PTA Executive Board!
Are you interested in becoming a parent leader, or do you know someone who would make a great parent leader? We are seeking Beacon parents and guardians to run for the following bodies, both of which play an important role in elevating parent voice and helping to make the Beacon school experience the best it can be for all students.
• PTA EXECUTIVE BOARD:
We are seeking nominations for all PTA Executive Board positions for the 2022-23 school year! You can see all of the positions HERE. Please note we are hoping to add a VP of Special Education role as part of our current bylaw review and updating; stay tuned!
• SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM:
We are seeking nominations for 5 parents or guardians who will have students at Beacon in the 2022-23 school year. You can read more about the School Leadership Team HERE.
HOW TO RUN: You can nominate yourself or another parent/guardian for the Beacon PTA Executive Board or the School Leadership Team by filling out the nomination form HERE.
DEADLINE: Nominations will close on Friday, June 17th, 2022 at 11:59 PM.
INFORMATION SESSION: Find out more about open roles and what’s involved by attending our virtual open house on June 1st, 2022 at 6:00 PM on Zoom.
ELECTION: The election for new PTA Executive Board and SLT parent representatives will be held during the final Beacon PTA monthly meeting of this school year on Tuesday, June 21st, 2022 at 5:30pm ET. Current Beacon parents and guardians, as well as Beacon staff who are UFT members, are permitted to vote.
ELIGIBILITY: The only criteria for election to the board is that you are a current parent at the school with a child who will be in grades 10-12 next year at the school, and that you don’t have a conflict of interest. A conflict of interest is defined as the following by the DOE Chancellor’s Regulations:
PA/PTA officers must not have a direct or indirect interest in any business transaction, any financial interest, or any business dealing with the school where they are an officer. Therefore, PA/PTA officers cannot work for an organization, directly or indirectly, at their school during the school day, or at an after-school, evening, weekend, holiday, or summer program. PA/PTA officers who own a business cannot, directly or indirectly, do business with their school during the school day, or with an after-school, evening, weekend, holiday, or summer program.
