As tweens become teens, their independence increases. While many parents and families start at an early age teaching children about “stranger danger”, there are many more complex tools teens need in order to be confident, empowered, and stay safe in new and potentially challenging situations such as travel, internships, parties, and transitioning to college/campus/gap year.
What if you could teach your teen to anticipate problems and take actions to avoid trouble? How about if your teen had “practiced” dealing with confrontation in a safe & controlled setting? What if they knew in advance what they could do to break free of an attack and how to seek safety?
Join Donna Chaiet, founder and President of Prepare Inc. for this hour-long parent workshop (followed by a 30-minute Q&A) where she will explain how to reduce vulnerability and raise resiliency in teens. Prepare Inc. runs workshops to teach these very skills and has extensive experience working with young people in many New York City schools. This self-advocacy program promotes empowerment, self-reliance and personal safety.
