Thank you to all of the Beacon families, staff, and administration who attended the Spring Gala, sponsored tickets for teachers, and placed generous bids at the event and online. The Gala was an enormous success, and we owe a huge THANK YOU to our very hardworking Auction Team, lead tirelessly by Nancy Molesworth, Lisa Shatz, and Stephanie Weiner.

The following items need to be picked up by the winners:

- All heavy/large bulk items won in the online auction
All other items will be mailed to winners a.s.a.p. If you would like your item(s) mailed to you, please let us know and we will ship and charge you for shipping.

Artisan Baguette Baking Lesson
April 25, 6 spots remaining
Learn how to bake a delicious baguette in three simple steps in a regular home oven. You will be mixing, shaping and baking your own baguette while tasting freshly baked baguettes served with delicious olive oil and wild herbs from the Mediterranean. At the end of the class you will bring home the printed recipe as well as the baguette you have made to share with your family and friends.
Walking Tour of Hamilton Heights
May 6 (rain date May 20), 10 spots remaining
The tour includes Dyckman Farmhouse, the Cloisters (stop at the museum for coffee), Morris-Jumel Mansion, Hamilton Grange, and end up at the Grange Restaurant for coffee or a drink donated by the tour guide. Tour will take approximately 4.5 hours.
A fun and funny night of readings by local comedy writers + cocktail party

Join acclaimed humor writer and Beacon mom Cynthia Kaplan for a fun and funny evening of readings with best-selling local authors AJ Jacobs (The Year of Living Biblically, The Know-It-All, staff writer for Esquire), Julie Klam (You Had Me at Woof, Friendkeeping, Dear Julie column), Rich Cohen (The Sun & the Moon & the Rolling Stones, Sweet and Low, writer for Vanity Fair), and Rob Tannenbaum (I Want My MTV, writer for Rolling Stone, GQ, NY Mag). There will be wine and snacks and schmoozing with the authors!
Congratulations to this year’s recipients of Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Several Beacon students received the highest honor—Gold Keys—for their submissions. Gold Key art work will be on display at the Uris Center for Education at the Metropolitan Museum of Art through May 29.
PA Executive Board Nominations for 2017–2018 School Year
The PA is pleased to announce Nominating Committee members Jean-Claude Cartier, Tracy Hattem, and Kathryn Kellinger Hanson. The Committee is responsible for facilitating elections for the 2017–2018 Parent Association Executive Board. Details to come.
